Our signature trip: sunrise at Bromo on day one, then a pre-dawn trek up Ijen for the blue flames.

Full itinerary

Day 1

1. 00:30

   Depart for Bromo

   Hotel pickup, 4WD Jeep to the viewpoint.

2. 05:10

   Bromo sunrise

   Golden sunrise from Penanjakan.

3. 09:00

   Crater and sand sea

   Crater walk, photos in the savannah and Whispering Sands.

4. 14:00

   Transfer to the Ijen area

   A five-hour drive, then rest before the pre-dawn trek.

Day 2

1. 01:00

   Start the Ijen trek

   Put on the gas mask and climb for about two hours with the guide.

2. 03:30

   Blue fire

   Watch the rare blue flames at the crater floor.

3. 06:00

   Sunrise over the sulphur lake

   At first light the world largest acid lake turns turquoise.

4. 11:00

   Transfer to airport or hotel

   Drop-off in Surabaya, Malang, or the Bali ferry port.
